Only God Can

We all have stuff. We all need prayer. Both are processes we must walk through as God creates opportunities for change.

God created everyone different. We’ve had different life experiences. There are things only God can change. Free will to choose still causes challenges among us.

Some have wounds so deep only God can heal. Some are angry and only God can deliver them. Some are in unloving relationships only God can give courage to talk about. Some are grieving over a failed marriage, broken heart, death of someone they loved and only God can heal the hurt or feeling of abandonment.

Some have trust issues only God can resolve. Some have been controlled by people for so long only God can set them free. Some wear so many masks to hide shame only God can give self esteem and self worth back. Some can’t forgive or forget _________, only God can mend and heal hearts.

Some criticize or belittle others that only God can build confidence back. Some don’t know love or mistake love for bargaining–if you love me, you’ll __________; only God can give unconditional love without bargains. Some think to accept God, they can’t __________.

As published in the category–When you know, who you are–, God is in the people business. It’s about showing love and kindness to those in need. It’s about reaching those who don’t know Him and that He loves them. It’s about loving one another in spite of our “free will to choose”. It’s about showing Jesus to a lost world. It’s about saving souls.

Christians are in this world but not of this world. We are the “salt and the light”–giving all the glory to God–They will know us by our fruit and loving actions. When we know God, through his Son, Jesus Christ, we are so rooted and grounded in love, our actions speak for us and God gets the glory!

Bottom line, whether we agree or not, we have to respect a persons choice to choose differently and pray about it. Speak life into stuff, instead of speaking negative stuff. Keep in mind, everybody is not ours to fix. God is in charge, and he knows what each of us need to keep moving forward. So pray and be specific in your prayer.

God is the only one who can change people and things. As God creates opportunities to share our personal–once upon a time, God _____________ story–this is what sharing the gospel is about. Most folks are visual, talk is cheap. This is where actions speak louder than words. (smile)

Scriptures for your reading pleasure:
Matthew 6:9-13 – After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Matthew 11:29-30 – Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Philippians 4:5-7 – Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 3:1-17 – This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was. 10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

1 Peter 4:6-8 – For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

The Price Of Forgiveness (4/27/13)f

Thank God, we can forgive people and forgive ourselves.

THE RIVER WALK

Read: Judges 7:1-8:17, Luke 23:13-43, Psalm 97:1-98:9, Proverbs 14:7-8

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)

Relate: What is the price of forgiveness? What is the price of the inability to forgive? Some sad stuff has happened in my life but not much bad stuff has happened. I’ve experienced death and loss but I’ve never been in an abusive or cheating relationship. I had great parents and did not experience anything significant in the way of neglect, verbal, or physical abuse growing up. I haven’t experienced true bullying, never been mugged or raped, never been loaded into a train with a destination like Auschwitz, and never been bought and sold by a slave trader. It is hard for me to understand how hard it might be for another to forgive.

When I meet with someone who has faced injustice or abuse in ways like…

1 Thessalonians 5:18, In Every Thing Give Thanks

Let us give thanks throughout this day. God has a way of using anything to promote our growth to keep us moving forward. Good or bad, we can give thanks because God is in charge.

People make the world go around, (another song), just because, someone wants to bait us, taunt us with a nasty remark or unkind gesture, let us thank God, that his love and his Word, is so rooted and grounded in us, and we are led by The Holy Spirit, that they will know us by our fruit.

Thank you God for your mercy and your grace. Thank you for equipping us with everything needed to get through today.

Love From A Distance

God always knows what is best for us. God never gives us more than we can bear. God gives us courage to love from a distance. Sometimes we must stand in faith, trusting God, by taking our hands off of situations that He knows we can’t handle. We are not God. God is the only one who know the reasons behind a why.

Hurting people hurt people. Remember “power of words” and “free will to choose”–trying to interfere when God is working–gets our feelings hurt.

Once upon a time, someone loved us from a distance. The best thing we can do is have patience and keep them lifted up in prayer. Trust God to walk them through. Drop a {{smile}} or {{hug}} in a text or email to let them know someone is thinking of them. Keep moving forward, even if there is no reply back. Remember God is in charge of the situation.

Meditate on Romans 8:28–And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

We thank God, for his continued protection, even when we don’t know or understand why. There is power in prayer!
